Thomas Dean Mattinson

Thomas Dean Mattinson, 75, of Levan, passed away on May 12, 2017. He was born on July 30, 1941 in Salem, Utah to Alice Francom and Dean Mattinson.

He grew up in Salem, Utah attending Spanish Fork Junior High, and later Trade Tech in Provo where he became a welder. He enlisted in the Air Force for 4 years. He made his career as a welder and plumber.

Thomas married Shirley Downs and had 2 children together, they were later divorced. He married his soul mate, Carol Irene Dixon on January 14, 1967. Together they raised their 4 children, and Carol’s 3 siblings.

Thomas is survived by his wife, children; Arla Ann Sloan (Ted), Lee Dean Mattinson, Richard Dean Mattinson (Debra), Vicki L. Roberts, Clinton L. Jolley (Barbara) and Buddy L. Jolley, brother Dale Mattinson, sister Aileen Newton (Lynn),  2 sister-in-laws and a brother-in-law. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, a brother, a sister-in-law Ida Mattinson,  a grandson Jeremy Mattinson, and a son-in-law Tony Roberts.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Levan Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah.
