Mary Elizabeth Higginson Wing


Mary Elizabeth Higginson Wing, 81, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 in Spanish Fork, Utah. Mary was born November 23, 1936 in Santaquin, Utah to LeGrande J. and Melva Pearl Kay Higginson.  She attended schools throughout her youth in Payson, Utah.

She married her sweetheart, Bryce Earl Wing on November 23, 1953 in Provo, Utah. They were sealed in the Manti LDS Temple on July 9, 1994.  They were married for 58 wonderful years.  She was happiest when she was with him.  Her family is comforted to know they are together again.  She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Mary was employed by Nebo School District for over 20 years as the Food Service Manager. A life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mary was a faithful visiting teacher and served in many capacities, most recently as a greeter.  She especially loved serving with Bryce as a Temple Worker in the Provo Temple.

She enjoyed knitting, sewing, camping, baking, and cooking. Her favorite day was “Pie Day”, the day before Thanksgiving, when she taught her grandchildren and great grandchildren to make pies.  Mary loved making memories with her children and grandchildren

Mary is survived by her children, Leesa Mary (Calvin) Blohm, of Woodland Hills, Susan Shirlene (Gary) Pratt, of Spanish Fork, Michael B. (Dorene) Wing, of Springville, and Dawna Marie (John) Diamond, of Saratoga Springs. She was a loving grandma of 19 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and siblings, Colleen (Gaylord) Patten, of West Covina, CA, Joan Stewart, of Farmington, UT, Dean (Jayne Ann) Higginson, of Mesquite, NV, Kay Higginson, Artis Callaway, both of Santaquin, Jill (Lynn) Carter, of Payson, Dennis Higginson, of Spanish Fork, and sister- in-law, Jeanne Higginson.

She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Rose Anna; husband, Bryce; parents; brother, Joseph and wife, Connie Higginson, brother, Lynn Jay Higginson; sister-in-law, Claudia Higginson; brothers-in-law, Don Stewart, and Walter Callaway; and two granddaughters, Tristy Stubbs, and Michelle Wing.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Spanish Fork 10th Ward Chapel, 353 East 400 North, Spanish Fork, Utah.  Family and friends may visit at the church prior to the service from 9:00-10:30 a.m.  Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
