Joan Hales Ludlow

1929 – 2017

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother passed away July 9, 2017 in Spanish Fork, Utah from Lewy Body Dementia. She was born July 30, 1929 in Spanish Fork, Utah to Ruby Jex and Hodson Hales.  She was truly an angel on earth and an example to all those around her.  She loved her family and spent her life in service to her family and friends.  Her talents of crocheting and handwork adorn her childrens’ homes.

She was a telephone operator for several years before marrying Gordon Ludlow. Joan and Gordon were married on November 20, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple and have enjoyed 66 years together.  They raised their family of seven children in their original home in Spanish Fork.  Her family was her greatest blessing and she was happiest when she was surrounded by them.  She was active in the LDS Church and had a love for her Savior.

She is survived by her husband Gordon Ludlow, children, Brent (Jane) Ludlow, Verlene (Rod) Hunsaker, Tami (Chuck) Anderson, Rodney, Janalee (Brad) Waters, Shauna (Ron) Pulver, Gregg (Wendy) Ludlow. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Clair Hales, sons-in-law, Brad Waters and Rod Hunsaker, and daughter-in-law, Jane Ludlow.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 353 East 400 North, Spanish Fork, Utah. Always the lovely Queen of the Beehive home. I always told her I was amazed that she could wake up in the morning looking as beautiful as when she laid down to sleep. Always so kind to everyone and wanting to fatten them up by feeding them candy. Joan’s sweet spirit and kind soul will be missed.
