Jim Ray Beal

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and son passed away at his Spanish Fork, Utah home on Saturday, November 25, 2017. Jim was born on April 8, 1949 to Douglas Keith Beal and Ruth Alice Bear, in Price, Utah. He graduated from Hillcrest High School, where he enjoyed being part of the football team. He later attended the University of Utah. Jim married the love of his life, Lynda Victoria Hadley, on August 5, 1977. Together they raised two daughters, Jaymie and Lyndsie.  Jim and Lynda recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with their daughters and grandchildren.

Jim was a hard worker and enjoyed his jobs through the years.  In high school he was a cook at Genie Boys restaurant, and later at Silver Fork Lodge. Jim was a proud Air Force Man, serving in Thailand as a Radio Communication Specialist during the Vietnam War. Upon returning to the States, he worked for General Business Machines and Mid-Mountain Data Systems, where he repaired cash registers and other machines. In 1997, Jim decided to make one of his dreams come true and became a truck driver for C.R. England and Conway. He loved the open road.

Jim held many titles in his life, but those he was most proud of were of husband, daddy, and grandfather. Our Papa loved his family dearly and was very involved in the activities of his children and grandchildren. If there was a sports game, a concert, or a graduation, he was there.  He gave us a love for the outdoors. Some of our family’s best memories took place down dusty dirt roads. We camped, explored, hiked, and just loved being together. He was a very enthusiastic fisherman. When asked about the size of fish he caught, he either bragged if they were big or laughingly told you it was none of your business if they weren’t so big. He was an excellent gardener and grew the best tomatoes. He loved a good buffet, trying new foods, and homemade goodies. He was a great friend to have and would gladly drop whatever he was doing if he could help someone in need. He was our strength, our champion, our Superman.

He is missed by his wife Lynda, his children, Jaymie (Michael) Fellows, Lyndsie (Richard) Burgener, grandchildren Avyrie, Dyllan, Logan, and Jocie Fellows, and his “adopted son” and good friend Joshua Stromblad, as well as his mother, Ruth, brother Gary (Janene) Beal, and sister Cathy McNee.

He is preceded in death by his father, Keith Beal.

Jim did not want a funeral, but a viewing will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Walker Funeral Home, located at 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork.

“We love you, Jim, Daddy, and Papa!”

  1. Pat and I were so sad to hear of Jim’s passing. We remember all the good times we had at the neighborhood parties (especially those given by Gary and Gloria). He was always smiling and a real joy to be around. Our heartfelt sympathies to Lynda, Jaymie, Lyndsie and the rest his family.

  2. Lynda, Jaymie and Lyndsie,
