  9. Jennifer Kohler

I had the distinct pleasure of having Dustin as a screenwriting student at Dixie State College. My experience of him as a serious student and vulnerable young man makes him someone I will never forget and whose passing is a deeply felt loss. A bright light is gone.
As a parent of three, my heart and prayers go out to his family.

  10. Davey B

Dushy and I met in 1999 when a group of us decided it would be awesome to improvise as a club after school. We fought hard with the school to have the club be recognized as legit, and Donkey Hotey’s Improvcicles was born.

While I knew Dustin then, it wouldn’t be until after we graduated where we became almost inseparable over the course of many years. We were each other’s first roommates – 4214 9th Ave S still holds a lot of really great memories.

Dushy and I (amongst others) did many, and often silly, things. Bullhorns, xanga, Disneyworld, Star Wars, Spongebob and shouting Spring Break! in the middle of winter – nothing but shenanigans.

Love you Dushy – my thoughts are with the Buchanan family during this terrible tragedy.

  11. Amber Biegler Vance

We will all miss Dustin. He was a great friend and always knew how to cheer up a person. I have never met another like him.

  12. Helen and Tom Friend

Helen and I want to express our deepest condolences for the loss of your son Justin. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kim, Pam and Family.

  13. Kelly Aus

I met Dustin my first summer at Trollwood. We did improv classes together, and I will never forget his unparallelled sense of humor or ability to see comedic value in the seemingly mundane (timed perfectly, of course). I recall he had a persistent cold that summer, which may or may not have become material for scenes. :)
In long form improv, every person and moment is crucial. Life should be viewed no differently. I am thankful to have had the privilege of acting alongside Dustin. We who have known him, in any capacity, are better for it.

  14. Duane Ginette Macedo

God bless family Dustin we will miss you the world is minus an angle from god I have only seen your shows on internet but what a talent we love and miss you ginny duane family

  15. Kristen Rise Draskovic

I have so many incredibly positive and fun memories with Dustin. I have sweet memories of recent conversations and moments of being in awe of his drive and talent and his way of being that was inspiring to be around. I have never met anyone like him in my life and I am blessed to have ever had the opportunity to have shared in it. Many moments of uncontrollable laughter and joy will be treasured in my heart as I remember the man Dustin is to many.

  16. Paul Kamrud

Dustin you got me introduced to the whole world of improv comedy. I remember being on stage with you many times and wondering if I could keep up with your talent. You always made it fun and kept me in the action so I wouldn’t look like a novice. Sometimes I remember being there next to you and thinking, oh my god what is he going to do next! When were starting out Linebenders we would travel anywhere for a show. I never imagined we would see so many ND high school gyms in one year.
I will miss you. I always enjoyed performing with you, and better yet watching your talents on stage. During your improv shows, that “director’s cut” role you always played always had me laughing. But more than all that talent, you were a friend to so many people. You are missed by all of us. I look forward to seeing you again someday my friend.

  17. Bill Lucas

I didn’t think there would be any math. C’mon Dustin I know you smiled at that one. I have many memories of you Dustin and i don’t know where to begin so I will just tell one. Those of us who were in Chicago will know what I am talking about. What in the hell were you doing eating “street sausage” :) My love and prayers go out to you and your family.

  18. I first met Dustin doing video production at Trollwood, and later shared the stage with him during a North vs South Improv show. He was brilliant. We became friends, and after I graduated high school Dustin ended up seeing me through a difficult time of my life by lending me a constant ear, taking me out to lunches, or just cruising around in his car talking about super heros and movies. We lost touch within the past few years which I now regret deeply. Last night I dreamt I saw him sitting at a bowling alley, leaning far back in his chair, arms crossed, hair cut like he was 17 again. I hope he pops up there more, I’d like to make up for lost time.

  19. Phil Godel

    Dustin,

Thanks for the fantastic memories and great time we had in Las Vegas. You will be sorely missed.

    Your Brother in comedy,

    Phil

  20. Mandi Erickson

Dustin oh how you could make me laugh and no matter how may debates we would get in to some how you always won i would walk aobut fighting as if i was on ur side! you are an amazing person i cant keep typing my tears wont let me but please know the GREAT impact you put on so many lives.

  21. Dustin always had a way to make people laugh. No matter how down you were he’d do anything in his power to see you smile again. He’ll be very missed!

  22. Timothy R. Lane

I was a high school classmate of Dustin’s. I remember being very fond of him. He was a person I always looked up to not only because of his talent but because of how kind he was to me. I wanted to be like him and I wanted to be his friend. I am very sorry for your loss and he will be missed by all of us.

  23. Beryl K.

I am so very saddened by the loss of such an Amazing guy!! I thoroughly enjoyed every joke and every talk we had. I was so thrilled somebody could understand my sense of humor. You will be greatly missed Dushy. To all of his family and friends my heart sincerely aches for you. You will all be in my thoughts in the days, months, and years to come. May your soul Rest in Peace.

  24. Dustin. Thanks for everything. It’s been a long time but I haven’t forgotten. Say hi to Nilly on the other side.

  25. Tim Larson

Dustin and I became friends waiting in line for Star Wars Episode I. I remember that to pass the time we were coloring in some episode I coloring books and Dustin came to a photo of Jar Jar. He looked at it and whatever text was written underneath it, held it up and said “I don’t like the look of this guy. I just got a bad feeling”. He knew before the rest of us. He was so intuitive. :)

We shared a lot of experiences and frustrations in high school and Dustin was always an ear to listen and a mouth to get debates started. He got me to watch Ghostbusters for the first time, he introduced me to my love for the Beastie Boys ,and he is one of the few people I can say I would fully trust to be completely on stage without a script with. He had so many little touches on my life I will never forget.

I love you Dustin. I am sorry I never said it more. You influenced my life in big ways. I will miss u brother.

  26. LaVerne Aventi

My heart breaks for you Dustin. I can’t even type this without tears streaming down my face. I remember so well the last time I saw you. You and Justin in Fargo at the Gastropub, putting on a LineBenders show. I walked in, you smiled, walked up and gave me a hug and thanked me for being there. I’d give anything to be able to be there and hug you again. To tell you how incredible I thought you were.
I keep having flashes of school, most especially rehearsal for AMND. I’m pretty sure our little group of Rustics had more fun than the rest of the cast. So much of that was because of you. Your wildly crazy facial expressions, the things that came out of your mouth, the way you used your whole body to deliver your lines….
Rest in Peace Dustin. You have no idea how much you will be missed.

  27. Jolene Rheault (Roderick)

Thank you for all the times you made me laugh, made me smile or made me feel better about things. Thank you for staying up with me at night, many a night, to chat while I rocked my newborn to sleep. Thank you for knocking a little bit of common sense into me in our teen years. Thank you for bringing so much joy to this world and the people in it. Thank you for being you. Hope you are in peace and cracking up everyone upstairs.

  28. Toby Mulvihill

Dustin was an amazing help to me in realizing that friends come in the strangest places. He always had a sarcastic tone that only the truest of friends knew to be the most encouraging part about him, and it took me a long time to realize just how brilliant and enjoyable he was. Miss him lots already, and hope this message reaches his family in warmest sympathies.
    -Toby Mulvihill.

  30. Annie ( Buys ) Valerio

To my handsome nephew I will miss you my friend. Our late night facebook chats and there were plenty of those lol.( Because you never answered texts or calls but you would always catch me on FB ) You always made me laugh so hard and I always felt like I was in a comedy when I was around you. I am so thankful to have seen some of your accomplishments. Going to see your premiere of Parker and Julia and seeing you so happy and proud of your work is a memory I will cherish forever. You always sending me comedy clips and asking for my opinion and they were always hilarious. I am so thankful to have had you in my life and glad I spent some time with you. I still laugh about our Vegas trip, I was laughing so hard last night thinking of everything that happened. I have so many happy and funny memories with you and I am so glad I have those great memories. Me and you discussing movies and most the time we usually agreed ( except the Twilight movies lol couldn’t mention those around you without getting some crap. ) I miss you already!! This may sound corny to some but I am going to write it anyway May the force be with you my friend/nephew your forever in my heart. Please watch over your Mom and Dad and siblings. They are all struggling over your loss and I know this has only begun and it will get worse before it gets better for them and everyone who knew you!! RIP Dustin xoxox

  31. Dustin. I really wish you knew how many people care about you and wish you would’ve found a shoulder that you could lean on. Thank you for being one of the shoulders I leaned on myself back in Fargo. You are missed and will continue to be missed by myself and many many others that have posted amazing things on Facebook. Love ya bud, hope you run into Nilly on the other side.
