Dennis Arthur Cornaby

May 8, 1945—June 14, 2017

Dennis was born to Fern Kirkham and A. Allen Cornaby on May 8, 1945 in Spanish Fork. He passed away June 14, 2017.  He attended schools in Spanish Fork and graduated from Spanish Fork High School and LDS Seminary in 1963.  A member of the LDS Church, Dennis served a mission in the Northwestern States.

On April 12, 1968, he married Sharol Hanson in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They are the parents of three daughters, Kimberly (Rob) Hatfield, Jennifer (Darrin) Caldwell, and Amy Cornaby Barker.  He called them “His Girls”.  He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren who love him dearly.

Dennis held many church positions including Young Men’s President, Ward Clerk, High Priest Teacher, and was a faithful Home Teacher.

He grew up on a farm, he loved horses, green fields, and all that went with it. He listened to his police scanners day and night.  He loved to visit his dear friends or visit with any stranger he met.  He was a true cowboy at heart.

He loved his girls and his grandchildren. When they were young, they went everywhere with him.  Sharol took care of him until the end. He was her “boy” and she was his “lady”. They just celebrated 49 years of marriage.

Survivors are his wife, Sharol, his daughters, Kimberly, Jennifer and Amy, and their spouses; grandchildren, Tyler (Amanda) Hendrickson, Zac (Sabrie) Hendrickson, Jake Hatfield, Scott Hatfield, Dakota Caldwell, Payton Caldwell, Sharaden Caldwell, and Maranda Caldwell; great-grandchildren, MaKrae, Kash, Kaezley, Nayvee, Aisen, Hayvn, Indie, and Gates. He is also survived by a brother, Kent (Sharlene) Cornaby, sister, Margene Tweedie, and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Hunsaker.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Garth Cornaby, and a sister Eileen Hunsaker.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork, Utah. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 6 til 8 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork and on Thursday from 9:45 til 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral.  Interment will be in Salem City Cemetery.

  1. Dennis grew up with me and my brothers, Frank & Lonnie. We all rode the bus together & were in the same ward. I am so sorry to learn of his passing.

    I am so sorry to read of Dennis’ passing. Sure was a fun guy. I loved going to school with Dennis he was always great to talk to and have fun with. Will miss seeing him at the class reunions. My condolences to Sharol and his family.

    I went to High School with Dennis. We were in FFA together. He was a true Farmer and Stockman He was always friendly and had a great sense of humor. I am saddened by his passing.
