Cleon Thorn Nielson

Cleon Thorn “Cy” Nielson (Benjamin) passed away on November 28, 2017.  He was born April 20, 1932 in Mapleton, Utah to Marcellus and Harriet Thorn Nielson.

He married Carol Ann Johnson on September 23, 1954 in Springville.  They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 10,1960.  They are loving parents and devoted grandparents.

Cy enjoyed restoring and using John Deere tractors his entire life.  He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War and worked as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service for 30 years in the Spanish Fork office.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carol, his children Marcia Stewart, Gregg (Kathy) Nielson, Ann (Scott) Jensen, and Richard (Laurie) Nielson, 20 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Max Nielson, and his son-in-law, Walt Stewart, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at the Benjamin LDS Church on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at noon.  There will be a viewing at Walker Mortuary, Spanish Fork, on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and at 10:45 to 11:45 am at the church prior to the services.  Interment will be at the Benjamin Cemetery.
