Arlene Johnson Gull

 

Our sweet beloved Mother, Grandmother and friend to all, Arlene Johnson Gull returned to our loving Heavenly Father on August 10, 2017. She was born in Sutherland, Millard County, Utah on May 27, 1928.  She was a twin to Darlene Johnson Hathaway.  She was the 10th child born to Parley Heber and Hulda Kristine Andersen Johnson.  Her family moved to Palmyra, Utah when she was three years old.  She lived the rest of her life in Palmyra.

She married Frank Gull on November 6, 1944 in Spanish Fork, Utah. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple on November 6, 1952.  They are the parents of four children, 19 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Arlene attended school in Spanish Fork, Utah. She worked hard her whole life as a farmer’s daughter and as a farmer’s wife.  She never complained about the hard work, and willingly did the work that needed to be done.

Arlene was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Palmyra Ward. She served in many positions including; Primary and Sunday School Teacher, Ward Librarian, was a dedicated visiting teacher and served two faithful service missions with her husband.  She was a righteous woman who was loving and kind to everyone.  She served everyone and was a good example as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Arlene was a member of The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers; she served in many positions in that organization. She loved her family and kept many scrapbooks and picture albums.  She loved going over her books with anyone.

Arlene is survived by her children, George Edward (Lucy) Gull, Robert J. (Janice) Gull, Lenna Jean (John) Mendenhall, Jay Frank (Jada) Gull; 19 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; her sister, Annie Johnson King, sister-in-law, Hazel Shepherd Johnson, and brother-in-law, Leon Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank; her parents; 10 siblings; and 2 great grandchildren.  Her family would like to thank Maple Creek Home and Hospice Staff for their excellent care of Mom, with a special thank you to Andrea and Heather.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Palmyra Ward Chapel, 1866 West 5000 South, Palmyra, Utah. Family and friends may visit on Sunday evening, August 13, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 187 S. Main Street, Spanish Fork, and on Monday morning at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the service.  Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.

    Thanks to all of you for being such a big part of our lives and supporting us through the good and the difficult times.
